Mid-Atlantic Utility Locating, LLC (Mid-Atlantic) has performed professional services for a multitude of clients in both the private and public sectors, including: Federal Government, Airports/Transit, Military, Municipalities, Universities/K-12 Schools, and Hospitals. Below is a listing of our notable projects:
National Harbor, Oxon Hill, Maryland
- Mid-Atlantic is providing daily utility locating in support of the construction and design of the high profile National Harbor project in Oxon Hill, MD.
- Mid-Atlantic is also providing electronic utility marker locating and GPR, in addition to standard locating methods, throughout the site.

Andrews Air Force Base, Morningside, Maryland
- Mid-Atlantic located and mapped 160,000 linear feet of underground utilities along the entire length of the west runway and approaches.
- Crews excavated 35 test holes to facilitate runway and stormwater management replacement.
- All work was successfully completed in a mere seven week time period.

HOTD GSA Steam Line Replacement, Washington, DC
- The Heating Operation and Transmission District (HOTD) provides high-pressure steam to approximately 100 Federal buildings located throughout the DC area through a network of approximately 7 miles of tunnels and 5 miles of direct buried piping.
- Mid-Atlantic provided utility designating and locating for 26 sites that included as-built and location of underground utilities.
- Crews dug over 200 test holes, which required extensive permitting and near exclusive night work to complete the project.

Pentagon 9/11 Memorial Project, Arlington, Virginia
- Mid-Atlantic provided utility designating and locating on approximately four acres located at the southwest corner of the Pentagon Reservation.
- As part of the second phase of the project, Mid-Atlantic performed 40 utility test holes for use in the design of the Memorial.

Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton, Virginia
- Mid-Atlantic provided utility designating and mapping on the entire 40+ acres of property at the Fauquier Hospital in the Town of Warrenton, Virginia.
- Generated a Base Utility Map for several construction projects associated with the construction of a new heating and cooling plant and a new 5-story patient care tower.

Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project, Fairfax and Loudoun Counties, Virginia
(Construction for Phase 1 to be completed in 2013, and Phase 2 to be completed in 2015)
- Mid-Atlantic has been providing utility designating support for the preliminary stages of the Tysons/Dulles Metrorail extension project.
- Mid-Atlantic has begun the excavation of test holes to facilitate new power ductbanks, which will provide power to the metro trains.

Washington Dulles International Airport, Dulles, Virginia
- Mid-Atlantic has provided utility locating services on numerous projects for Dulles Airport. Some of the most notable projects are as follows:
- West Automated People Mover tunnels and stations
- Airfield heating and cooling tunnel
- Automated People Mover maintenance facility
- Concourse B-12 build-out and expansion
- Fuel farm protection wall
- Expansion and construction of a new settling tank farm

USCG Navigation Center, Alexandria, Virginia
- Mid-Atlantic provided subsurface utility designating on the US Coast Guard’s 93-acre campus to facilitate the redesign of stormwater management facilities and upgrades.
- Locators utilized GPR to locate fiber optic duct banks and plastic water lines.

VDOT Utility Marking, Northern Virginia
- Mid-Atlantic is currently providing utility locating services under a task order contract for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
- Locating services have been provided at the request of VDOT for VDOT owned projects.
- VDOT has renewed Mid-Atlantic’s contract for three consecutive periods.

InterCounty Connector, Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties, Maryland
(Construction to be completed in early 2012)
- Mid-Atlantic is currently providing test hole work on an as-needed basis for the InterCounty Connector (ICC) highway.
- The stretch of highway is 18 miles long and runs from I-270 in Montgomery County, MD to I-95 in Prince George’s County, MD.

I-395 and I-495 HOT Lanes, Springfield, Virginia (Construction to begin in 2009)
- Mid-Atlantic provided utility locating services to facilitate relocation of the VDOT utilities.
- Mid-Atlantic is also currently providing utility locating assistance to other Geotechnical crews.
