Equipment

We utilize the most state of the art technology to designate, locate, and map your utilities. Our service-ready equipment includes:

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR):

Mid-Atlantic Utility Locating now uses a Mala Geoscience Easy Locator to easily detect subsurface structures including underground voids, vaults, and plastic or concrete utilities that would otherwise be undetectable with regular utility locating devices.  The GPR unit allows Mid-Atlantic to characterize ranges of bedrock, locate septic fields and tanks, research and recover historic sites, and is also becoming a recognized forensic investigational tool within the law enforcement community.

Electronic Utility Markers:

Mid-Atlantic Utility Locating uses electronic utility markers to provide a solution to marking utilities that are traditionally non-locatable because of paralleling utilities or damaged tracing materials.

Vacmaster:

Mid-Atlantic Utility Locating utilizes the VACMASTERS System 4000, the world’s most powerful air-vacuum excavation system.  It allows for test pitting over 95% of the time in the most difficult soils.  Its interceptor canister is capable of separating wet and dry soils, giving us the ability to use air or water to dig and penetrate the hardest soils without harming utilities.

Air-Vac 7:

Mid-Atlantic Utility Locating received delivery of the very first production model of the Air-Vac 7 manufactured by Concept Engineering Group of Verona, Pennsylvania. The Air-Vac 7 is a portable vacuum excavation unit designed for excavation in areas that were inaccessible with our Vacmaster System 4000 due to height, width, or weight concerns. It even gives us the capability to excavate inside buildings should the need arise.

Metrotech:

Our professionals use the top of the line Metrotech 9800 series, i5000 MetroMark, Metrotech 810, Metrotech 530, and the Pipehorn to locate even the toughest utility systems as accurately and as quickly as possible. The i5000 MetroMark is a 100% digital Electronic Utility Locator. It is able to negate high levels of interference associated with variable frequency drives often encountered at wastewater treatment facilities and around industrial cooling towers.
